Night time Wonders at Rokko Meets Art: Hikari no Mori – A Nocturnal Art Stroll

In our last post, we talked about Rokko Meets Art. Now, here’s a special nighttime way to enjoy this amazing exhibition: “Hikari no Mori” a “Forest of Light.”

This enchanting evening event invites you to explore illuminated artworks under the stars from September 21 to November 24, 2024 in the SIKI Garden and Rokko Alpine Botanical Garden. Visitors can experience the transformation of Rokkosan’s landscape into a glowing masterpiece.

There are works by Kyota Takahashi, her “Fruits of Light” are LED-lit artworks created with local children brighten SIKI Garden, accompanied by music from mica bando.

Kira★Kira★Kirari is a treasure hunt that lets visitors collect shimmering light fragments around the garden, leading to a special light and sound performance.

Miyuki Takenaka’s “Tiny Shadows” is a unique installation using 35mm film and light to project delicate shadows of Rokkosan’s plants, capturing their ethereal beauty at Rokko Alpine Botanical Garden.

A special night time venue will have a total of 17 works by two main “Forest of Light” artists as well as many other artists from the AiRK (Artist in Residence Kobe) that will contribute artwork.

With the elevation of the venue area being approximately 860m above sea level, the temperature is about 5 degrees cooler than that of the city, and the trees change color even more quickly. So they will have a special lighting up autumn leaves in the area that really brings out their colors in a unique way.

Special evening meals will also be available at the ROKKO Mori-no-ne Museum cafe as well as the Edelweiss mountain cafe at the Rokko Alpine Botanical Garden. Last orders are at 18:30.

Do remember that it is much cooler on Rokkosan, especially during the autumn nights, so bring extra layers to be sure to keep warm.
