Rokkosan: It’s beginning to look alot like…

The autumn colors are out in full. Rokkosan is a beautiful painted canvas. Vibrant reds and yellows await those coming up to enjoy the cool crystal mountain air. The temperatures are dropping and the feeling of winter and snow is just around the corner. 

Try a Kotatsu?

While hiking or visiting Rokkosan you can also experience a very traditional Japanese custom, that of the Kotatsu. Kotasu are tables that have blankets attached to them and then heaters under the table so while one sits at the table to eat, read or relax, the lower half of your body is kept nice and cozy warm by being under the Kotatsu. 

At the Rokko Forest Sound Museum they have various places inside and outside where one can relax and experience this Kotatsu style. 

This Kotatsu event will go from Tuesday, December 26, 2023 until Friday, March 15, 2024. They are closed on Thursdays as well as December 31 (Sun.) and January 1 (Mon.).

A Special Night

Leading up to this they will also be offering the chance to have a special night during this Christmas season.

You can enjoy a concert featuring mechanical instruments unique to Rokko Forest Sound Museum, along with a special Christmas dinner at the attached Mori no Café.

This will be available for these four special evenings: December 16th (Saturday), 17th (Sunday), 23rd (Saturday), 24th (Sunday), 2023, from 17:30-19:25 (Reception 16:30-18:30 / Doors open 17:15). The price is ¥8,000 per person for adults or children and includes the chance to request a song be played as well as a special Christmas gift. There will only be space for 20 people each day, so reserve now to be sure to get a spot.

Rokkosan Snow Park Season!

Starting from this weekend, December 2nd, 2023, the Rokkosan Snow Park winter season will begin! The Rokkosan Snow Park has a gentle slope that even those who are new to skiing and snowboarding can enjoy. There is also an area exclusively for sledding and playing in the snow, so you can safely enjoy it to your heart’s content. All the necessary snow gear and equipment can be rented, so you don’t have to worry about what to bring. The Rokkosan Snow Park is the perfect place to visit for your first experience of playing in the snow!

The area will be open until March 3rd, 2024. They have group as well as private ski and snowboarding lessons available.
