Today was another beautiful day for visiting Rokkosan and hiking around.
At the Guide house today we had children from the local elementary school stop by for a walking tour, learning about the plants, animals and other interesting pieces of information about Rokkosan.
We also had a family of salamander hanging out enjoying the sunshine. It is a wonderful time to visit Rokkosan and enjoy the outdoors.
The yearly “Natsu-Yama-Biraki,” the “Opening of the Summer Mountain Season,” will be on June 23rd this year.
This is the 2018 Groom Festival held each year to officially start off the summer mountain season. With this year also having the newly renewed Mt.Rokko Visitor Center, there are many wonderful things to do planned for the 23rd.
Various shops will have food and drinks available and there will be workshops to make accessories with wood from Rokkosan, broaches and key holders with seeds and bird whistles out of wood.
The main ceremony will be from 10:40 in the morning to 12:10 with the rest of the attractions going on until 15:00 in the afternoon.
History about Arthur Hesketh Groom can be read about in our previous post.
Hope you will have some time to enjoy the festival, learn about Mr. Groom and enjoy spending time at the renewed Mt.Rokko Visitor Center!
