While there have only been light snow flurries so far, from the temperatures and festive atmosphere on Rokkosan, the winter holiday season has arrived.

Both stations as well as each car of the The Rokko Cable Car have been dressed up to get one into the holiday sprit as one rides up to the top of the mountain.

The Rokko International Musical Box Museum is having a special display of “Nutcrackers and Candy Houses.” from November 27th, 2017 to December 25th, 2017. They are playing holidays songs on the various music boxes, festive decorated trees and wreaths grace the area. There are Nutcracker dolls displayed as well as beautiful delicious looking candy houses that have been created by various Kobe area Chefs. The sweet aroma, holiday music sounds and sights are a joy for all of the senses.

They are also holding Special Evening Concerts on 12/9, 12/10, 12/16, 12/17, 12/23, 12/24
The time is 18:00 to 20:30. The cost 6,500 yen for a musical concert, dinner and a special present. Please make sure to book in advance.

Decorations at Garden Terrace

The Garden Terrace has beautiful evening illuminations and there are many holiday gifts available at the Horti Shops. The Rokko-Shidare Observatory has special holiday illuminations throughout the season. Christmas dinners can also be reserved and the many fine restaurants there.

The Rokkosan Pasture is having many special “Winter Pasture” events from December 2nd to January 12th of 2018. Many events to celebrate the holidays, as well as the changing from the Year of the Rooster to the Year of the Dog are planned.

The Rokko Snow Park is open

The Rokko Snow Park opened on the 18th of November with new high tech snow making equipment. The ski and snowboard season there goes until April 1st, 2018. They are open daily from 9am to 9:30 pm. There is rental gear including wear, hats, gloves, etc, available, so one can just show up and rent everything there to enjoy the snow. They have lessons in many languages, so even if it is your first time, Rokko Snow Park is a great place to learn.

Winter also means that there is a chance of ice on the roads and trails, so take care when out hiking.
